Long Sutton Cadets cement bond with town church at Armed Forces Day service
Cadets cemented a bond with their town church at a special Armed Forces Day service.
St Mary’s Church in Long Sutton played host to the event, which celebrated members of the army from around the world.
It was also deemed an appropriate time for the town’s Cadet Force to be ‘re-affiliated’ with its
local Royal British Legion branch.
Members were given certificates and presented with badges to mark the occasion.
Around 30 cadets were in attendance, joining in with others for Bible readings, hymns and prayers.
Father Jonathan Sibley said: “We were very pleased. It was a good attendance. It was a lovely service, and we were able to use our new Welcome Hub in the church.
“All the cadets were really impressed and inspired by the service.”
They were joined by a number of special guests for the occasion.
These included Joshua Yarwood, a United Nations Emergency Coordinating Officer who had just returned from a trip to Ukraine with the Boxes of Hope campaign.
Mandy Baxter has been among those spearheading the scheme in south Lincolnshire - and she was also in attendance.
