Chatteris launches annual Poppy Appeal
Chatteris Royal British Legion has launched its annual Poppy Appeal today (Friday) and collections will be taking place over the next two weeks.
There will be a stall at Aldi supermarket from tomorrow (29) through until Saturday November 12 from 10am to 6pm daily (except Sundays which finish at 4pm).
On Armistice Day - Friday November 11 there will be a short ceremony at 11am at the War Memorial outside the parish church and this will be followed by wreath laying at the RAF Memorial.
Then on Remembrance Sunday (November 13) the town will hold its annual parade, wreath laying and church service in the afternoon. This year there will be no service at the memorial at 11am.
The parade will muster at Furrowfields car park for 2.15pm ready to set off at 2.35pm to arrive at the War Memorial at 2.45pm when there will be a wreath laying ceremony following by the service of remembrance at 3pm..
The Remembrance Day parade and service are a civic event, organised by Chatteris Town Council and supported by the Chatteris Royal British Legion.
Any and all members of the community are welcome to join the parade, lay a wreath or attend the church service. Please remember the roads along the parade route, including side roads (Furrowfields to church) will also be closed for a short period of time between 2pm and 3.30pm.
