The Orchards care home in Ely welcomes Elaine Cole as new manager
A retirement home is welcoming a “seasoned professional” and a local woman as its new manager.
Elaine Cole is the newest member of the team at The Orchards care home in Ely - which provides residential, respite and dementia care.
The care home, under company Greensleeves Care, has been described as a “beautiful and modern purpose-built ” building offering a peaceful environment for its residents.
Elaine has nearly three decades of service in the health and social care sector.
Prior to joining The Orchards, she devoted 16 years to another organisation specialising in a range of services, including nursing and residential care, children’s care, home care and supported living.
As care director, she oversaw quality standards, implemented strategic initiatives and led dedicated teams to “consistently deliver exceptional care”.
Elaine’s journey into care began with a GNVQ in health and social care during sixth form, followed by a work experience placement in a care home, which she found “immensely rewarding and enjoyable”.
She said: ‘’This initial exposure to the care sector ignited my passion for providing support and care to those in need.”
Inspired by the experience, she began working in a care home, and this hands-on journey solidified her passion for health and social care.
What Elaine enjoys most about the sector is the diversity and unpredictability of each day.
She said she was “inspired by Greensleeves Care’s reputation and charitable ethos of reinvesting profits back into their homes”.
Elaine added that she felt “drawn to their commitment to providing a home for life for every resident”.
She has achieved an "Outstanding" rating from the Care Quality Commission in a previous setting and is keen to replicate this at The Orchards.
Her other key priority is ensuring her staff feel “valued and empowered”, which “directly enhances the quality of care for residents”.
Elaine added: “Since I’ve joined. I have been impressed by the home’s cohesive, dedicated team working tirelessly to provide exceptional support.”
