Fenland care home and rehab centre announces the merger of Askham Place and Askham Court under one registration to enhance care
A Fenland care home and rehab centre have announced the merger of Askham Place and Askham Court under one registration to enhance care.
Doddington-based Askham Village Community and Askham Rehab have seen the two facilities merge under a single Care Quality Commission (CQC) registration.
Moving forward, the combined home will be known as Askham Court. This significant step strengthens their commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality care and rehab across both sites, ensuring a seamless experience for all residents.
Following recent renovations, Askham Court now has 32 beds, while still being single-storey, each offering accessible private ensuites and featuring overhead ceiling hoist tracks with private access to the courtyards and surrounding grounds.
These rooms are all uniquely structured to meet a variety of rehabilitation and long-term care needs. The short-stay wing offers intensive neurorehabilitation, helping individuals recover from recent injuries or surgeries and regain independence.
Meanwhile, the long-term care wing provides expert support for residents with chronic neurological conditions, neuro-palliative care, and those with prolonged disorders of consciousness (PDOC).
This setup ensures a smooth transition from short-term rehabilitation to long-term support, allowing residents to remain in a familiar and comfortable environment throughout their journey.
The merger is designed to enhance continuity and consistency of care while maintaining the same dedicated teams and services with no changes to staffing or the high level of care already provided.
Residents will continue to be supported by the same trusted staff, with the added opportunity to meet new team members as part of the integration.
Mavrick Leveille, associate director at Askham Village Community, said: "By uniting Askham Place and Askham Court under one CQC registration, we are ensuring a more unified, consistent care experience for our residents.
“This merger benefits residents, staff, and families alike, while preserving the exceptional standard of care Askham is known for. The expanded wings at Askham Court enable us to serve a wide range of care needs, from short-term neurorehabilitation to long-term support for chronic conditions, ensuring comfort and continuity throughout the rehab pathway."
This merger also strengthens the rehabilitation services at Askham Rehab, encouraging better collaboration between teams and fostering an integrated approach to recovery.
As a result, rehab residents will benefit from a more coordinated and personalised care experience. Askham Rehab is part of Askham Village Community and offers a holistic, multidisciplinary approach, ensuring that each resident receives personalised, goal-oriented rehabilitation aimed at restoring independence and improving quality of life.
