Busy week for Wisbech Air Cadets including 'Grobbing' the chance to fly a plane
Three cadets from the Wisbech 272 Squadron Air Cadets took to the sky as they had their first flight in a Grob Tutor aircraft with the 7 Air Experience Flight at RAF Cranwell.
They all donned a flying suit, parachute and helmet before their flight in the dual-controlled plane and all three had the opportunity to take the controls of the aircraft and fly it themselves.
A cadets spokesperson said: "The smiles when they landed said it all."
Then last Monday (9) the Masons and handed over a cheque to help with the purchase of three laptops, which will be used by the Squadron Training Team and the cadets.
Finally on Thursday evening the squadron formally welcomed eight new cadets when they were enrolled by the Squadron Padre the Reverend Allan Landall.
The new cadets made their commitment to the ATC by saying the Cadet’s Promise and were given an Air Cadet Bible.
In the meantime the spokesperson added: "We are currently looking for adult staff and civilian committee members aged 20 and over to help our existing team and enhance the cadet experience. If you are interested in this, please email the Officer Commanding at OC.272@rafac.mod.gov.uk for more information."
The next open evening for prospective new cadets aged 12 and over and in Year 8 or above is on Thursday June 23 starting at 7.30pm. To book your place and for more information please email as above. There will be another open evening in September for students who are currently in Year 7.
