Busy days for pupils at Sutton St James

There have been some busy days at Sutton St James Primary School.

From poetry competitions, to building dens, to creating original games – the school has held many events in the past week as well as planning its very successful annual summer fair.

Pupils were invited to write poems and over 20 pupils had their work published in a book named ‘Winter Wonderland’.One special poem has been crowned the overall boys’ winner.

Max Jarvis, who is just 9 years old, wrote the poem ‘Life of a snowflake’ and was rewarded for his efforts with a variety of books.

Different houses in the school competed against each other by making games for their summer fair.

The games had to be based on the Queen as it was near her 90th birthday celebrations.

Some dads were also invited to come along as it was also Father’s Day weekend.

The winners will be the designers whose game makes the most money and the winning house will be announced at school.

The games have altogether raised £60 and the fair raised over £2,000, as well.

The school also hosted a ‘bushcraft day’ where pupils were taught about the tricks of den building.

Key stage one youngsters learned to filter water and key stage two pupils were taught how to whittle using wood.
