BREAKING NEWS: Wisbech Budgens store to close on Thursday

The Budgens store in Wisbech’s Horsefair will close this Thursday, March 9, with the loss of 25 jobs, administrators have confirmed this morning.

The branch is one of more than 30 that are being shut after their owners, Food Retailer Operations Limited, went into administration last month.

The company had only taken over the site in May last year.

Mike Denny, joint administrator from PricewaterhouseCoopers, said: “Unfortunately, we have been unable to find a buyer and it is not commercially viable to continue trading the stores.

“We are working closely with the Co-op, USDAW and the relevant government agencies to ensure that all employees receive the maximum levels of practical and financial support through the redundancy process.”
