Lloyds Bank branch closure is another blow to March High Street
One of only two remaining banks in a Fenland town centre will close for good this autumn.
Lloyds Bank located on March High Street, was originally scheduled to close at the end of last year, but that was postponed.
However, the banking group has now confirmed to customers the branch will close on October 29. Lloyds has announced it is closing 237 branches in 2024/25.
Once the branch goes for good it will mean only Nationwide remains in the town which previously boasted at least nine different banks or building societies. These have slowly closed over the years leaving just Lloyds and Nationwide with branches.
The most recent to close was the NatWest in Broad Street which shut its doors last summer.
Lloyds customers have been advised they can do their everyday banking at the Post Office including checking balances, making withdrawals, and paying in cash or cheques.
The planned bank closure is the latest blow to hit the newly regenerated town centre, with Clarks shoe shop having announced earlier this summer it is to close next month.
