Appeal launched to help Manea dad get his smile back after New Year's Eve attack

A fundraising appeal launched to help a dad get his smile back after an horrific New Year's Eve attack has already raised thousands of pounds.

The fund was launched to help Jordan Dyball pay for extensive dental surgery after the attack near Manea Village Hall last Tuesday night left him with one missing tooth and serious damage to his other front teeth.

The attack happened around 12.30am as Jordan and his partner Samantha Beresford walked to a friends' home after seeing in the New Year in at the Rose and Crown pub.

Jordan, who has just signed for the village football team and has two young daughters, Lizzie, seven, and Ronnie, one, can remember little of the attack which left him unconscious on the pavement near the village hall in School Lane.

He said: "We had a great time at the pub celebrating the New Year and we were walking home with friends as we were planning to stay the night with them because we live just outside the village. I had stopped to chat with one of the football team and Sam had walked on ahead.

"As I was walking to catch up with her and our friends I could hear shouting. So I started to run. As I ran round the bend someone came alongside me and gave me a massive whack to the head.

"The next thing I knew I was lying on the pavement. I could see people gathered around my partner and as I tried to get up I realised I was covered in blood. The police think I was either kicked or punched in the head as I was on the ground.

"I went to Hinchingbrooke Hospital that night and was transferred to Peterborough City Hospital's specialist maxillofacial department the next day, which is where I spent most of New Year's Day.

"I have lost one tooth, one has been chipped and another has been snapped in half. I have had to have x-rays to see the extent of the damage to the teeth and jaw and now need extensive dental treatment. The NHS won't pay for that so my sister Lora has set up a GoFundme page to help cover the costs.

"Initially we thought it would be around £3,000 put I have now seen the specialist dentist and it looks like it is going to cost more like £6,000 as I need two inplants as well as a lot of other work to put the damage right. The NHS will only pay for the minimum work including dentures.

"We have only lived in Manea since May having moved to Fodder Fen from St Neots, and I was only telling everyone in the pub how much we loved the village and how safe we feel and then this happens.

"It has badly shaken Sam, but we have made some great friends and everyone has been so supportive after what has happened and we are really grateful for that. It was an unprovoked attack, and everyone has said how rare this sort of thing is for the village, so I think it was a case of wrong place wrong time.

"The police are investigating and so if anyone has any information they should call 101 or Crimestoppers."
